We just returned from a fabulous vacation to the Maldives and Sri Lanka. Based on a cursory investigation into the Maldives, we quickly deduced that it would be a super pricey destination, and we were debating whether we could afford it. However, it was a pleasant surprise to find out that SCUBA liveaboards are incredible value, as not only do they include three dives daily, but food, beverages and a cabin are thrown in as well. It was an easy decision to sign up for a May liveaboard, and we opted to dive with the MV Stingray. In hindsight, it was a great decision as we met lots of really cool fellow divers, saw tons of marine life (Becky was praying for a whale shark and sure enough, we got to see one), and had a really good time cruising the atolls. After the liveaboard, we hopped on a 2 hour flight to Sri Lanka, where we spent some time meeting up with friends and seeking refuge from the west coast monsoon. It was too easy to glutton on seafood, relax to an ayurvedic massage, and explore the southern coast by motorbike. All in all, our carefree vacation came to an end too soon, and we are now back to work. Our next getaway will be in a few months, so keep posted for updated content soon.
